The year 2022 is a fruitful year for the construction and development of the new Western Land and Sea Corridor. The report of 2022 Western Land and Sea New Corridor Development Index released recently shows that the development index of Western Land and Sea New Corridor in 2022 is 135.2 points, which is 10.3% and 32.5% higher than 122.6 in 2021 and 102.0 in 2020 respectively, indicating that the overall implementation of Western Land and Sea New Corridor strategy in 2022 is good and the operational effectiveness is incremental.

Liu Wei, director of the Western Land and Sea New Corridor Logistics and Operation Organization Center, introduced that the index reflects the development and operation of the Western Land and Sea New Corridor in all aspects through dynamic monitoring and model calculation of infrastructure, service capacity and industrial development, highlighting the three main lines of development scale, development quality and competitiveness.

The report shows that the scale index of the new Western Land and Sea Corridor in 2022 continues to maintain a high growth rate, jumping 17.6 points from 2021 to 156.8 points, reflecting the good operation of the corridor construction and logistics, with the most obvious growth in infrastructure scale and logistics scale index.

The quality development index dropped slightly to 111.3 points, up 11.3 points compared with the base period, but down 1.9 points compared with 2021. Among them, the trade structure indexes of the regions along the corridor are gradually optimized, and the indicators of the economic development zones of the provinces and cities are good, providing a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the corridor. However, affected by the decline in trade dependence indicators, the index of intensification has fallen significantly.

The competitiveness index grows rapidly, up 14.8 points to 125.6 points over 2021. The New Western Land and Sea Corridor continues to improve logistics infrastructure such as railroads, highways, ports and harbors, and continuously cultivates international rail and sea transport, cross-border road transport, international railroad intermodal transport and other logistics organization methods, providing a convenient and smooth logistics corridor for the western region, helping the western region to further integrate into the international market, especially the economic and trade exchanges with the ten ASEAN countries become more convenient, transforming the western inland region from It has turned the western inland region from the "rear guard" to the "front line" in opening up to the outside world, driving the growth of trade along the route and becoming an important driving force for the high-quality economic development of the western region.

The index scale of provinces, autonomous regions and cities along the new land and sea channel has grown rapidly, with a foreign trade scale index of 132.7 and an industry scale index of 129.1. The import and export volume of the ten countries along the route to ASEAN has increased from 691.6 billion yuan in 2019 to 881.7 billion yuan in 2022, with an average annual compound growth rate of 8.91%.

Liu Wei said that in the future, the new western land and sea corridor will serve as a large axis of economic development, effectively promoting the gathering of innovative resources, economic factors and population, and driving the rapid development of international trade, cross-border logistics, electronic information, intelligent manufacturing, finance and other industries, attracting industries to cluster in advantageous areas, optimizing economic development division of labor and industrial transformation and upgrading.
