China's largest direct investment project in Turkey, the hunutlu power plant, opened Tuesday in adana province in southern Turkey. The project is a key project connecting China's "One Belt And One Road" initiative with Turkey's "middle corridor" plan, with a total investment of about 1.7 billion us dollars. It is jointly developed and constructed by Shanghai electric power, a subsidiary of China state power investment corporation, avic international complete equipment co., ltd. and Turkish local shareholders. The construction of the project mainly includes a coal-fired power plant and a special coal dock. Two ultra-supercritical generating units with a total installed capacity of 1,320 mw will be built, together with flue gas desulfurization and denitrification facilities. The project will supply 9 billion kilowatts of electricity a year when it comes online.Adana governor mahmoud demirtash congratulated the project on its official opening at the ceremony. He expressed the hope that the project would become a benchmark for turkish-chinese investment cooperation and that turkish-chinese cooperation would have broad prospects in the future.Wang yundan, chairman of Shanghai electric power, said the plant has adopted ultra-supercritical technology to reduce coal consumption, save costs and reduce emissions, effectively improving the project's economy, energy conservation and environmental protection. When completed, the project will contribute to Turkey's economic development and local employment.Ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generation technology is an advanced and efficient power generation technology, which has higher thermal efficiency than supercritical power units and more obvious advantages than conventional coal-fired power units.According to the plan, the first unit of the project will be put into commercial operation by the end of 2021, and the second unit will be put into commercial operation in 2022."
