On March 28, with a long whistle, a China-European train full of 29 brick-red cage carriages slowly started from Shijiazhuang International Land Port, all the way west to Kazakhstan. This is the first commodity car export cage train in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei region, for Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei brand car enterprises to seize the international market share to open up an efficient and convenient international logistics channel.


The train is jointly operated by Shijiazhuang International Land Port and China Railway Special Cargo Company Limited, using special cage car transportation of China Railway Special Cargo, loaded with 261 Great Wall cars, with a value of more than 31 million yuan, arriving at Horgos port and then entering the territory of Kazakhstan through road transport, distributed to five countries in Central Asia.


Shijiazhuang Customs statistics show that from January to February 2023, Hebei Province's import and export to countries along the "Belt and Road" 32.67 billion yuan, an increase of 18.2% over the same period last year, of which, exports of 19.25 billion yuan, an increase of 6.7%; imports of 13.42 billion yuan, an increase of 39.7%. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region achieved a total foreign trade import and export value of RMB783.15 billion, up 6% year-on-year, of which, imports were RMB573.78 billion, up 3.7%, and exports were RMB209.37 billion, up 13.1%.

It is understood that in the past, the export of commercial vehicles in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei region through the China-European Railway was loaded in the form of containers, each container could only carry 2 to 3 cars, which not only had a small carrying capacity, but also low loading and unloading efficiency. The cage carriage is specially designed for the transport of commercial vehicles, the interior is divided into two layers, each carriage can be loaded with 9 to 10 cars, the front and rear compartment doors can be opened to achieve the whole train first and last through, commercial vehicles can directly drive into the carriage, with strong carrying capacity, loading and unloading speed, high cost efficiency ratio, safety and reliability features.


In recent years, Shijiazhuang International Dry Port has given full play to its role as the land-based gateway to Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei and a dry port-type national logistics hub serving a high level of opening up to the outside world, and has continued to strengthen its ability to serve domestic automobile manufacturers, achieving the transit of more than 80,000 commercial vehicles in 2022 and being approved as a national used car export business area. At the same time, relying on the high-quality development of the China-Europe Classical Train, Shijiazhuang International Dry Port actively cultivates the development of automobile logistics, trade and supply chain industrial systems, and builds a global trunk hub port for the land transportation of commercial vehicles.

The commencement of this caged car train has created a new development space for optimizing the business form of vehicle export, enhancing the scale of sending and helping car enterprises to reduce costs and increase efficiency, which will effectively drive the foreign trade exports of car enterprises in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei region and help independent brand commercial vehicles to rapidly expand overseas markets.


As of March 27, Shijiazhuang International Dry Port has started 142 Sino-European trains this year, with a cargo value of 2.086 billion yuan, continuing to maintain the first international dry port of its kind in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. At present, the second whole vehicle export cage train has started loading plan.
